The Candy Ball smashed last year's total by over £60k to raise over £240k
On Saturday 17th April, the Candy Ball brought together companies from all sectors of the confectionery industry to raise over £240,000 for Sweet Charity, the charity of the confectionery industry. Attended by 700 guests, the fundraising event at Troxy raised over £60,000 more than last year which will be used to help support the charity’s beneficiaries during the forthcoming year.
A memorable night at Troxy!
Representatives from a cross section of the confectionery, grocery and FMCG industry including manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and suppliers attended the Candy Ball at Troxy, a stunning Art Deco picture palace in the East End of London. Attendees enjoyed an eclectic mix of toe-tapping entertainment including spectacular 30’s style cabaret and authentic music from a live jazz band that reflected the glamorous 1930’s venue.
Guests helped to raise money by taking part in Sweet Charity’s legendary confectionery Tombola where every ticket is a winner, a game of table Higher and Lower, raffle and auction. All prizes were kindly donated by leading manufacturers keen to show their support for Sweet Charity.
Thank you for your support
Charles Wilson, President of Sweet Charity, comments, “We are delighted by the success of this year’s Candy Ball. Surpassing last year’s total is a great achievement and we are really encouraged by the ongoing support of the industry. Not only did the event provide great entertainment for our guests but more importantly it helped us raise vital funds for our beneficiaries.”
“We recognise that the last 18 months have been tough for everyone so we were keen to develop more economical ways of raising money. By moving away from Park Lane we made savings, and with the auction on the night doubling expectations, and more companies providing sponsorship for the event, the Candy ball delivered an increase of over £60,000. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their continued support and look forward to the 2011 Candy Ball and other Sweet Charity events”.
Patrick Davis, Sweet Charity Director General, comments; “We are thrilled that so many people from the industry attended the event to help us beat last year’s total. Not only do fundraising events like the Candy Ball provide the industry with an enjoyable night out but most importantly they help fund the charity, enabling us to provide relevant care, support and resources to make lives a bit easier for all those in need.”
